Sarah Evans - Teacher of The Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method
What has been your experience of Face Yoga prior to starting the training?
Before my training I had not encountered personal experience of face yoga. As a beauty therapist I am always looking for additional techniques to help my clients, this led me to research Face Exercise. I contacted the people in London and found their attitude quite unwelcoming, their cost prohibitive and their reviews were limited. However it was worthwhile as it was doing this research that I found a blog in America praising the virtues of Face Yoga and encouraging everyone to start to practice it! This led me to research Face Yoga in the UK and this how I fortunately found The Danielle Collins of Face Yoga Method. I spoke with Danielle herself and found her to be very warm, open and genuine and I also felt that my call and interest really mattered to her. The reviews were excellent too and I decided to book the course.
What was your overall opinion of the training?
The training I found to be excellent, right from the onset. Communication was very good and comprehensive. The expectation of the work to be done before the course was specific and encouraging. The manual has very thoroughly been compiled and contains useful links to you tube videos which help with practicing the techniques before the course. There is a lot of additional information within the manual such as nutrition and general wellbeing. I think the main thing for me was the fact that the worded description of the exercises and other techniques are thorough and yet simply explained within the manual. The training day was fantastic. Danielle is warm, welcoming, kind and yet highly professional – she has a great aura. The training room was clean and spacious and water, teas and snacks had thoughtfully been laid out. It was useful that the room had a huge mirror so you can check your technique against Danielle’s technique – if the technique needed to be corrected Danielle did this in a very gentle and encouraging manner.
A beautiful lunch was provided with dietary requirements catered for. Danielle is very passionate about Face Yoga and overall health and wellbeing. She is incredibly knowledgeable and yet very humble, she makes you feel confident in your ability and good about yourself.
What was the most important thing you learned from the training?
That our appearance is a reflection of how we are feeling on the inside. To achieve great looking skin and muscle tone we must be putting the correct nutrition and hydration into our bodies, learn to relax and de-stress and very importantly be kind to ourselves in terms of the expectations we put on ourselves and also the way we perceive ourselves is more often than not in a negative way.
All of this radiates through to the skin – yes we can have the best toned facial muscles in the world but if we are feeling lousy on the inside the chances are we are not looking as good as we could on the outside either.
What was your favourite thing about the training?
The practical side of the training, it was great to get a good proportionate amount of time spent learning the techniques and being guided in ways to improve our technique. I also really enjoyed discussing the benefits of overall health and wellbeing to produce a healthy system and skin.
Let’s not forget the lunch........it was delicious!! Thank you.
If you were to recommend the training to a friend, what would you say?
The market place is saturated with yoga and pilates teachers (although I recognise that standards vary hugely). Face Yoga is still developing and therefore this gives you a niche position in the market place.
Face Yoga is containable, giving you options how you want to develop your business. You don’t need lots of space as in traditional yoga which gives the option of seeing clients for a private consultation – as long as your room isn’t too cramped and is clean, comfortable and welcoming.
If my friend wanted to develop the business further she could offer workshops and even start teaching face yoga to a class. The course gives flexibility and also ensures that a thorough knowledge of face yoga and general wellbeing is achieved.
Do you plan on using your training with clients. If so, how?
Yes I absolutely do! The way I feel I will gain my confidence is to practice on friends and family for a couple of weeks. During this time I will be talking to clients about the benefits and hopefully generate more interest – I have already had interest from some clients who knew I was doing the course.
I will begin by offering a personal consultation to clients. This way I will be easing the pressure on myself to perform in a class situation whilst gaining more confidence and knowledge of the Danielle Collins Face Yoga Method. In time I would like to do a work shop – only a short one – maybe 2 hours. I will judge how this goes and even mention to the attendees of the workshop that I offer personal consultations but that I am also considering running a Face Yoga Class once a week depending on interest and would be grateful for those who may be interested to let me know.
What score out of 10 would you give the training?
A most definite 10. I have attended lots of courses over many years and this course and my hot stone training are the only courses I would give a 10.
