BLOG 320: WHAT IS HABIT STACKING (AND WHY IT'S A GAME CHANGER FOR WELLNESS)?
May 20, 2025
Have you ever wished you had more hours in the day to fit in all your wellness practices? You’re not alone, that is always me! But there’s something I do to maximise my time and my results. It is a simple, effective method to help you get more out of my time, boost my consistency, and feel great doing it. It’s called habit stacking.
What is Habit Stacking?
Habit stacking is the practice of pairing two (or more) habits together, so they become part of one smooth, effortless routine. It’s based on the idea that adding a new habit to something you’re already doing makes it more likely to stick. Instead of finding separate time for everything, you combine wellness practices in a thoughtful, enjoyable way.
Why Is Habit Stacking Beneficial?
Habit stacking helps you:
-
Save time by combining practices instead of scheduling them separately.
-
Stay consistent because one habit triggers the next.
-
Feel more motivated as you associate new habits with enjoyable or familiar ones.
-
Boost your overall wellness by creating powerful, holistic routines.
My Favourite Habit Stacks for Health, Beauty & Calm
As a Face Yoga Expert, wellness is woven into everything I do but that doesn’t mean I have hours to spare every day. I am a busy 43 year old Mum and business owner. That’s why I rely on habit stacking to stay consistent and aligned. Here are some of my personal favourites:
1.
Walk & Listen to a Podcast
A brisk walk outdoors combined with an inspiring podcast boosts both my physical energy and mental clarity. It’s movement for my body and learning for my mind.
2.
Face Yoga & Meditation Music
Combining Face Yoga with calming meditation music enhances the relaxing effect and helps me stay present. It turns a facial workout into a mindful self-care ritual plus if I use music which combines positive affirmations I find this trickles into my subconscious mind and helps me feel happier and healthier.
3.
Sauna & EFT Tapping
The soothing warmth of the infrared sauna is one of my favourite ways to reduce inflammation, detox, reduce muscles tension and help my immunity. If I am in the sauna alone I use some Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. I work through blocks I have in my mind, body and life as I tap on the various meridian points. This pairing supports deep emotional release and physical detoxification.
4.
Spa & Stretching
I love enjoying the warm thermal waters which are packed full of natural minerals here in my home town of Bath. I love to include gentle stretching while I am there or even better, join one of the Aqua Yoga classes. It makes the whole experience more restorative—both inside and out. I relax my mind and muscles in the water plus build my flexibility and boost my mobility too.
5.
Gym & Audiobook
I often listen to audiobooks during my workouts. Usually about wellness, business or spiritual growth. It’s the perfect way to nourish my body and mind at the same time, especially when I want to learn while lifting or cycling.
6.
LED Mask & Acupressure Mat
This is a dreamy combination. I lie back on my acupressure mat while using my LED mask. It’s skin-rejuvenating, deeply calming, and helps me reset after a busy day. I love the Current Body LED mask (both the face one and the neck and dec mask). Use code FACEYOGA for £35 off the mask.
How to Start Habit Stacking
Start simple. Think about:
-
What habits you already do daily (e.g., brushing your teeth, walking, skincare).
-
What new habits you want to add (e.g., Face Yoga, stretching, journaling).
-
How you can pair them naturally and enjoyably.
For example, if you always have tea in the evening, that’s a perfect time to do some Face Yoga or gratitude journaling.
