BLOG 322: IF YOU WANT GLOWING SKIN, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT FACE YOGA YOU SHOULD DO FOR YOUR FACE
Jun 11, 2025I’ve been teaching Face Yoga for two decades now, and over the years I have shared so many effective techniques to help lift and firm the skin, release tension, detox, and energise. Face Yoga is a really effective combination of five key areas: facial exercise, facial massage, facial acupressure, facial relaxation, and overall wellbeing.
All of these areas are really important, and ideally, we should be spending anywhere between a couple of minutes and 40 minutes a day using a combination of these techniques. One of the questions I get asked most often is: “How can I get glowing skin through Face Yoga?” People often want a few key techniques they can easily add into their day-to-day life.
Let me share exactly what I recommend, particularly focusing on the most ‘glowy’ aspect of Face Yoga, acupressure.
The power of acupressure for glowing skin
When someone asks me about achieving glowing skin through Face Yoga, I often talk about the power of facial acupressure. In my teaching, I love combining new, science-backed techniques with traditional eastern practices, and acupressure definitely falls into the latter (although there is more science based evidence for it now).
Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, acupressure has both aesthetic and wellness benefits. It’s deeply healing, helping us to feel good on the inside. And when our inner health and wellbeing are thriving, this radiates out through our skin. Even gently pressing or massaging certain points on the face can help your skin look more luminous, energised, and healthy.
Recent studies have shown that acupressure can support the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to regulate stress hormones and improve sleep, both of which are essential for skin regeneration and glow.
From a beauty point of view, increased circulation through gentle stimulation also means more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to skin cells, encouraging that ‘lit-from-within’ look we all love!
For me, teaching Face Yoga is so much more than technique. It’s a heart-centered practice. I’ve witnessed thousands of people around the world (myself included) use these simple, mindful methods to reconnect with themselves, boost their confidence, and feel truly radiant from the inside out. Face Yoga isn’t just about beauty; it’s about feeling the best version of yourself, whatever your age.
Below, I’m sharing five of my favourite acupressure points for glowing skin. These are part of my Face Yoga Teacher Training and many of my other courses but I’d love for you to try them with me today and feel the benefits for yourself.
Technique 1: Between the eyebrows
Place your index finger in the area between your eyebrows. Close your eyes and relax the rest of your face. Hold this point for around 30 seconds, breathing gently in and out through your nose for a count of six.
Then, gently massage the point in a circular motion, first clockwise for 20-30 seconds, then anticlockwise for another 20-30 seconds.
Wellness benefits: Helps reduce stress and anxiety.
Aesthetic benefits: Smooths lines between your eyebrows by relaxing the procerus muscle and boosts blood circulation to the forehead, helping it look more radiant and glowing.
Good to know: This point is also known as the ‘third eye’ in many eastern traditions, said to be connected to intuition and inner wisdom. When you touch this space with awareness, you’re not only relaxing the muscle; you’re also tuning into your inner calm.
Technique 2: Above the eyebrows
This technique also targets the forehead to help it look energised and luminous. Use your index fingers to press the acupressure points directly above the pupils, just above the eyebrow line. Hold for 30 seconds, then massage in small circular motions, first one way, then the other for 20-30 seconds each.
Wellness benefits: Helps prevent frontal headaches or migraines, calms the mind, and reduces stress.
Aesthetic benefits: Improves circulation to your forehead, reducing tension-related expression lines and giving the skin a healthier glow.
Good to know: From a physiological perspective, you’re helping stimulate the frontalis muscle, increasing oxygenation and helping the skin naturally repair itself. From a spiritual perspective, you’re bringing a deeper sense of peace back into your mind and body as you gently press.
Technique 3: inner corners of the eyes
Using your index fingers, find the natural indentations at the top of your nose near the inner corners of your eyes. Gently press and hold these points for 30 seconds while breathing deeply, then massage gently in both directions for 20–30 seconds.
Wellness benefits: Relieves tired or sore eyes, promotes better sleep, and reduces stress.
Aesthetic benefits: Brightens your eye area and helps reduce puffiness and under-eye bags.
Good to know: This is a technique I return to daily. After long hours on screens or simply when I feel overstimulated, this simple acupressure point helps reset not just my eyes, but my energy too.
Technique 4: Either side of the nostrils
Place your index fingers in the natural indentations on either side of your nostrils, at the edge of your nose. Hold for 30 seconds, then massage in one direction for 30 seconds, followed by the opposite direction for another 30 seconds.
Wellness benefits: Helps clear blocked sinuses and reduce puffiness.
Aesthetic benefits: Boosts blood circulation in the cheek area, helping the skin look brighter and healthier.
Good to know: You might notice that after doing this technique, not only do your cheeks glow, but your breath flows more freely too. The connection between breath, face, and skin is one we often overlook but using acupressure with breath is so powerful.
Technique 5: Outer corners of the eyes
At the outer corners of your eyes, where you can feel the bony area, place your index fingers and breathe deeply in and out through your nose. This area is delicate, so press very lightly. Hold for 30 seconds, then gently tap the area with your fingers.
Wellness benefits: Eases eye tension, especially from screen use.
Aesthetic benefits: Reduces puffiness and dark circles, brightens the skin, and helps your eyes look more refreshed and glowing.
Good to know: This one always feels like self-love to me. It’s gentle, it’s soothing, and yet so powerful. In a world that pulls my attention outwards so often, this acupressure point reminds me to go within more often.
Using these acupressure points is going to help give your skin a lovely glow both inside and out. To supercharge these points, I definitely feel that true glowing skin begins from within. So eating well, sleeping deeply, reducing stress, and moving your body will help your skin look even more glowing and healthy.
