BLOG 337: THE TRUTH ABOUT HOW THE EQUINOX IS MAKING ME FEEL
Sep 26, 2025Monday this week marked the Autumn Equinox, that beautiful point in the year when light and dark are perfectly balanced. I really felt some strong feelings and thoughts that day so I wanted to dive deeper into it in today’s blog.
Equinox is where the day and night are of equal length, which happens only twice a year, once now, and once at the Spring Equinox. I always notice these two moments as it feels like a chance for me to pause, breathe, and reset.
From this week, the nights will slowly grow longer until we reach the Winter Solstice on December 21st. It’s a time that naturally encourages us to turn inward. I am taking this seasonal shift as an opportunity to reflect on the last six months, release what no longer serves me, and make space for rest and renewal.
I’ve been living more intentionally with the seasons for a few years now, and it has guided me so much. It helps me feel more grounded and connected to nature, even when life feels busy or overwhelming.
When I slow down enough to notice what nature is doing, I find it easier to listen to my body, trust my intuition, and make decisions that feel aligned. The Autumn Equinox is one of my favourite seasonal markers because it reminds me that balance is possible, even if only for a fleeting moment.
The Astrological Perspective
I love a bit of astrology so let’s dive into that now. Astrologically, we are now in Libra season, which is very much about balance, harmony, and relationships, not just with others but also with ourselves. Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and connection, so I feel like this time of year often feels like a gentle nudge to create more beauty and peace in our lives.
I always notice that around the Equinox, I feel drawn to rebalance my priorities. Libra season asks us to align with what truly feels right and to gently release what feels heavy or out of harmony. For me, this can mean anything from letting go of old routines that no longer feel good, to spending more time in nature, or saying “yes” only to opportunities that feel aligned.
A Season of Harvest and Seed Planting
Traditionally, this is the season of harvest. It’s a time to gather in the fruits of what we’ve worked on over the lighter, more outward months of spring and summer. But it’s also a time to look ahead and plant metaphorical seeds for what we want to nurture through the darker months.
For me, this doesn’t just mean setting goals or making to-do lists, it’s about how I want to feel over the next three months. Do I want to feel calmer? More rested? More inspired? From that place, I can decide what actions support those feelings. I find that when I approach life in this way, I feel more flow and less pressure to constantly “do.”
The Wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Autumn is connected with the lungs and large intestine, the organs associated with letting go, both physically and emotionally. I find this such a helpful reminder. Our bodies are designed to release, whether that’s through breath, digestion, or even tears. When we hold on to too much, whether that’s stress, tension, or old emotions, we can feel heavy and stuck.
So at this time of year, I focus on supporting my lungs with plenty of deep breathing, fresh air, and gentle exercise like yoga or walking. I also try to eat more nourishing seasonal foods such as root vegetables, warming soups, and herbal teas. Supporting the body in this way feels like a natural way to encourage emotional release too.
Practices That Help Me Reset
This season, I am giving myself permission to slow down and create small, nurturing rituals. Breath work, gentle yoga, and my daily Face Yoga practice all help me shift stagnant energy and find a sense of calm. I also love journaling at this time of year. Writing down what I’m ready to let go of, and what I want to invite in, feels so therapeutic and grounding.
Sometimes I will light a candle or sit quietly outside to mark this transition. It doesn’t have to be a big, elaborate ritual, just a moment of presence to honour where I am.
Setting Intentions for the Months Ahead
Rather than rushing forward, I am setting small, aligned intentions for the next three months. These aren’t about productivity or achievement, but about nurturing how I want to feel. For example, one of my intentions is to rest more. Another is to create more space in my schedule for creativity and connection.
I find that when I approach the last part of the year in this way, I feel less depleted by the time Christmas arrives. Instead, I feel nourished and more in tune with myself.
An Invitation to You
So, as I honour the Autumn Equinox, I am reminded that balance is always available to us, even if just for a moment. I am going to use this time to nurture myself, to let go of what I don’t need, and to welcome in more calm and clarity.
This is my invitation to you too: pause, breathe, and notice what you might be ready to release. Ask yourself how you want to feel over the next few months, and gently set intentions that support those feelings.
Happy Equinox! May this new season bring you peace, balance, and a deeper connection to yourself.
