BLOG 350: SURPRISING FACTS THAT MANY PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT MY CAREER
Jan 11, 2026
This isn’t a brag, and I want to be really clear about that from the start. But I do believe that women, myself included, have often been taught to downplay our achievements, stay small, or feel uncomfortable sharing our successes. And I genuinely believe that when we share our stories openly and honestly, we give other women permission to believe that anything is possible.
So here are some surprising facts about my career that many people don’t know, and a little more of the story behind them.
My original dream was always to be a teacher
Education has always been at the heart of who I am. I graduated from university with a first-class degree in Education and English Literature, because from a very young age I knew I wanted to teach.
At that stage in my life, I imagined myself teaching in schools. I loved learning, language, communication, and helping others understand and grow. Teaching felt like my purpose, I just didn’t yet know how that would look.
What I didn’t realise at the time was that life was about to take me on a very different path.
A year-long chronic illness changed everything
Shortly after graduating, I became seriously ill with a chronic condition called ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis). For around a year, my life completely stopped.
My energy was extremely limited. Simple daily tasks became overwhelming. The future I had imagined felt very far away, and at times, uncertain.
But it was during this period that something extraordinary happened. I began exploring natural and holistic healing techniques, gentle movement, breathwork, relaxation, mindset practices, and learning to truly listen to my body.
Slowly, carefully, and consistently, I healed myself.
That experience changed me forever. It became crystal clear that my calling was not just to teach but to help people use simple, effective, natural techniques to improve their health and wellbeing for life. My illness revealed my soul purpose.
I started teaching Face Yoga, yoga, and wellness in 2005
After my recovery, I trained extensively and began teaching yoga, Face Yoga, and holistic wellness in 2005. Face Yoga quickly stood out to me as something incredibly powerful.
It wasn’t just about the face, it was about posture, tension, breath, stress, emotions, and self-care. I saw how deeply facial muscles were connected to overall wellbeing, confidence, and nervous system health.
Then, by 2008 I was named the world’s leading Face Yoga expert by the international press. At the time, Face Yoga was far from mainstream, and I spent years educating people on its benefits with care, integrity, and intuition.
I’ve been featured in over 500 media outlets worldwide
Over the years, I’ve shared Face Yoga in more than 500 magazines, newspapers, and TV shows around the world.
Each feature has been an opportunity to shift conversations around ageing, beauty, and self-care, showing people that you can look after your skin naturally, gently, and sustainably.
I’ve spoken about Face Yoga on stages across the globe
Public speaking has taken me to some incredible places. I’ve spoken on stages internationally, with some of my favourite locations including Iceland, the Maldives, Greece, and London.
No matter where I am, the message remains the same: when we care for ourselves holistically, confidence and radiance follow.
I’m a two-time Amazon number one bestselling author
I’ve had two books published, Danielle Collins' Face Yoga and The Face Yoga Journal and both became number one Amazon bestsellers in four categories.
Writing those books allowed me to share Face Yoga in a way that was accessible, empowering, and rooted in real life.
I created an organic skincare range shipped to over 50 countries
I created the first product in the Fusion by Danielle Collins range in 2015 with an amazing natural, organic formulator. It was designed specifically to support Face Yoga practices. Today, the range has grown to six products and these products are shipped to over 50 countries worldwide.
For me, sharing organic, natural and cruelty free skincare has always been about nourishment, ritual, and supporting the skin, never quick fixes.
I’ve podcasted weekly for six years without fail
This week marks six years of The Face Yoga Expert Podcast, with a new episode released every single week.
The podcast now receives hundreds of thousands of downloads each year, and it’s one of my favourite ways to teach, inspire, and connect.
I’m in the top 0.2% of YouTube creators worldwide
My YouTube channel, Face Yoga Expert, is in the top 0.2% of creators globally, based on both subscribers and watch time. In fact it is in the top 0.1% for watchtime!
This growth came from years of consistency, authenticity, and staying true to my values.
I have a global community of over 1.4 million people
Across all platforms combined, I now have more than 1.4 million followers, a community I’m deeply grateful for. I love showing up daily and sharing my life and my tips. I aim to add value in every post I share.
I’ve trained thousands of Face Yoga teachers worldwide
Today, I offer eight short Face Yoga courses alongside the leading Face Yoga teacher training certification programme in the world, which has trained thousands of teachers in over 70 countries.
Helping others turn their passion into purpose has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
I started from nothing, after chronic illness
I didn’t begin with any money, resources, confidence, or a clear roadmap. I began after chronic illness, rebuilding my energy and belief step by step.
And that’s why I truly believe that anything is possible.
