337. Can Women Really Have It All? Honest Chats on Work, Wellbeing & Motherhood with Dr Giselle Goodwin

This week’s episode of The Face Yoga Expert Podcast, I’m joined by speaker, researcher and author Dr Giselle Goodwin for a deeply honest and thought-provoking conversation around women, work and wellbeing.

Giselle brings both lived experience and academic insight to this topic. With a PhD in women, work and wellbeing, alongside 25 years of building and selling businesses, she shares a refreshing, real perspective on what it truly means to “have it all.”

Together, we have open and honest chats from our own personal experiences, as well as insights from Giselle’s research.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • Giselle’s journey through burnout and autoimmune challenges

  • Building and selling multiple businesses while raising a family

  • Why she chose to spend five years completing her PhD in her forties

  • Whether women can really “have it all”

  • Her latest research on women’s “third job”

  • The realities of societal pressure and expectations on women

  • People pleasing and how it impacts our wellbeing

  • How to create a sense of inner peace and balance

  • Daily rituals and routines for calming the nervous system

  • Happiness, fulfilment and redefining success

  • How we can support and guide the next generation of women

This is a powerful, grounding conversation that will leave you reflecting on your own definition of success, balance and wellbeing.

About Dr Giselle Goodwin

Dr Giselle Goodwin is the author of Can Women Really Have It All?, a researcher, entrepreneur and mother of two.

Originally from Canada and now based in Cheshire, Giselle blends academic insight with the lived reality of board meetings, school runs and the everyday juggle of modern motherhood.

After co-founding and successfully exiting three companies in healthcare and recruitment, she returned to university in her forties to explore a question many women quietly carry: what does a humane and realistic version of work-life balance actually look like?

She completed her PhD in 2022, focusing on women, work and wellbeing. Today, she supports working mothers to challenge unrealistic societal expectations and create lives that feel sustainable, fulfilling and aligned — without constant self-sacrifice.
